Dental implants started their clinical journey with several trials, and have evolved based on patient’s demand for teeth in one day or immediate teeth. Modern Implantology makes it possible for immediate teeth, which was still an ideology about a decade ago.

Now, patients can walk out of our specialized dental implant centre with immediate tooth implants. This is made possible by our team of experts who make use of the latest techniques and concepts, integrate them with their vast clinical experience backed by sound evidence-base. Yes! Permanent Teeth in a day is possible!

In order to cater to your demands of ‘teeth in a day’ and ‘teeth in an hour’, EviDent Speciality Dental Care and Implant Center employ a combination of techniques which allows immediate ‘permanent teeth over the weekend’ – a three-day protocol for fixing permanent teeth!

This is made possible by a new generation of Implants called the ‘One-Piece Implants’ that are designed for immediate loading; they also do not require any bone augmentation procedures eliminating the need for multiple sittings!

One-Piece Implants are the most convenient for the patient because:

  • They require a single trip over a weekend (approximately 3 days) is sufficient for the replacement of teeth(because they are designed for immediate loading).
  • They make implants more affordable treatment compared to conventional implants which need multiple sittings and expensive bone augmentation surgeries!
  • ‘Blood-less’ surgeries resulting in atraumatic or minimal trauma to gums as they require a ‘flapless’ technique of placement.
  • Are covered by our Lifetime Service Assurance and Warranty Policy Lifetime warranty.

Single-Piece Implant Design:

The “Unified Implant” or the One-piece Implant is designed to be reliable and strong compared to the conventional screw based implants. Conventional implants with screw joining the implant and abutment have problems of loosening over time (which may require re-tightening) and also are more prone to leakage and infection (peri-implantitis). At EviDent Speciality Family Dental Care, we are phasing out the conventional design and preferentially placing the Single-piece implants, BOI implants and the Morse taper implants to ensure higher rates of success for our patients.

Advantages of One-piece Implants:

  • Minimally traumatic Surgeries – flapless, quick & simple. NO NEED TO CUT THE GUM TISSUE!
  • Economical Dental Implants – As they are ‘single’ piece, they are less expensive when compared to conventional implants which have multiple components.
  • Affordable Dental Implants – Dental-Implants-over-the-weekend. Avoids multiple visits! Permanent teeth in 3 days!!

Fixed Permanent Teeth in just 3 days!

Replacement of a few missing teeth:

When one or more missing teeth need replacement, the permanent ceramic crown (or crowns) are fixed in 3 days after implant placement.

Schedule:

Day 1: (Tooth Extraction, if required) + Implant Placement + Placement of temporary crowns (plastic) in same appointment.

Day2: Healing and rest Day – Lab fabrication of Ceramic/Zirconia crowns.

Day 3: Cementation of Permanent (ceramic/Zirconia) crowns.

Advantages:

  • The implant, as well as the permanent cap (crown), are completed in 3 days – Patients can complete their treatment in a single visit!
  • International Patients can complete their dental needs in a short business trip or a trip over a weekend!

On the flipside…

  • The risk factor in certain cases is high in single implants when compared to multiple implants.

Note:

Whatever the technique employed, the case selection and diagnoses is vital to success. The implant specialist team at EviDent Specialty Family Dental Care include – A Maxillo-facial Surgeon (a surgical expert who takes special care about the proper implant positioning, surgical technique and other considerations for implant success), a Prosthodontist (a prosthetic specialist who takes care of aesthetics of crowns and other considerations of the implant) and a Periodontist (a gum specialist who takes care of the gum and bone considerations in an implant).

Proper case selection and planning are vital to the success of Implant surgeries. With the vast experience of our highly skilled team, we at EviDent place more successful implant with a team effort.

Replacement of all the teeth with implants: (Full-mouth Implants)

Traditional technique:

All-on-4 and All-on-6 (heralded as Teeth-in-a-day or Teeth-in-an-hour) technique where only 10 and 12 teeth, per arch respectively, are replaced by 4 or 6 implants.

Why this is not recommended:

  • Only 10 or 12 teeth are replaced – Ideally 14 teeth are needed to restore chewing efficiency.
  • Immediate crowns given are of plastic. Ceramic crowns are given in a second sitting 3 to 4 months later – this requires multiple visits.

What we recommend:

  • Placement of 6 to 8 implants in the lower jaw; and 10 – 12 teeth in the upper jaw.
  • A combination of implants and techniques are used (varies case to case) depending on:
    • Bone height
    • Medical considerations – Diabetes etc
    • Esthetic Needs of the patient

Advantages of the technique employed at EviDent Implant Center:

  • Due to the combination technique – NO need for expensive and risky bone graft surgery or Sinus Lift procedures.
  • Offers more predictable results.
  • More favourable long term prognosis.

A dental implant is a titanium fixture that serves as a replacement for the root portion of a missing natural tooth. This is then used to support replacement teeth that serve as a permanent alternative to missing teeth. The dental implant is placed in the bone of the upper or lower jaw and serves as an ‘anchor’ for the replacement tooth.

Drawbacks of Conventional Teeth-Replacement Options:

Dentures

    • Bulky and cover the palate (roof of the mouth)
    • Interfere with speech
    • Inability to chew all kinds of foods!
    • Lack of appreciable sensation of taste
    • Often have a clicking sound – a social embarrassment!
    • ‘Easy to Lose/Break’ – It needs frequent removal and cleaning and should be stored in water while not in the mouth (or it would shrink and not fit!
    • Emotional and psychological impact – wearing a prosthetic!
    • Facial bone loss and premature aging – as denture teeth lack ‘roots’ and do not stimulate bone, the bone structure of the face and jaws remodel over time and make a person look older and aged!

Dental Bridge:

    • Destructive Process – Need to ‘cut’/grind adjacent teeth for support!
    • Doesn’t replace the root portion of a tooth.

Advantages of Implants:

  • Reliable: Success rate – highly predictable. Implants are considered an excellent option for tooth replacement.
  • Esthetic: Dental implants look and feel like your own teeth!
  • Conservative Procedure: Dental implants don’t sacrifice the quality of your adjacent teeth.
  • Treatment plan flexibility – Implants enable more flexibility in planning treatment.
  • Durability – Implants bond to the jaw bone and become part of it – this integration is as strong as a natural tooth root.
  • Bone health Maintenance – Dental implants ensure that the bone area is stimulated, which prevents long term bone loss.
  • Confidence – Dental implants allow you to function with comfort and confidence! Say goodbye to worries of losing dentures and messy pastes and glues.
  • Eat Better – Well made denture enable a person to chew at only 15-20% efficiency when compared to a person with natural teeth! Dental implants can restore chewing efficiency comparable to that of natural teeth. Also implants allow you to chew on all kinds of food. Dentures which cover the palate can inhibit the proper appreciation of taste. Implants let you enjoy your favorite foods.

Dental Caries:

Teeth are susceptible to decay, infection & breakage and, when possible, can be restored back to health.  Through improved techniques and modern technology, we have a plethora of options for restoring a tooth back to its normal shape, appearance and function. Dental Caries is the medical term for tooth decay.

It is one of the most common preventable diseases worldwide. Though it’s incidence has significantly diminished over the years due to the use of fluorides and an increase in patient awareness, it is still a major disease in India.

The following are common ways in which EviDent Speciality Dental Care restores damaged teeth.

What can you achieve through Restorative dental procedures:

  • Smile enhancements
  • Filling-in unattractive gaps between teeth
  • Improving or correcting an improper bite
  • Restore normal eating and chewing
  • Preventing tooth loss
  • Relieving dental pain
  • Repairing damaged and decayed teeth
  • Replace old, unattractive dental treatments

Composite Fillings:

  • A composite (tooth-coloured resin) filling is used to repair a tooth that is affected by decay, cracks, fractures, etc.
  • The decayed or affected portion of the tooth is removed and filled with a tooth coloured resin by a ‘bonding process’.
  • Composite fillings are tooth-coloured and they can be closely matched to the colour of existing teeth. They offer excellent cosmetic results.
  • Though commonly referred to as ‘permanent fillings’ they do not last lifelong and need timely maintenance. They are very durable and will last many years, giving you a long-lasting, beautiful smile.

Dental problems that can be corrected using composite fillings:

  • Chipped teeth
  • Gaps between two teeth
  • Cracked or broken teeth
  • Decayed teeth
  • Worn teeth

The word periodontal means ‘around the tooth‘.  Periodontal disease attacks the gums and the bone that support the teeth.  Plaque is a soft sticky film of food debris, bacteria, and saliva.  If it is not removed, it turns into calculus (tartar).

Plaque and Calculus are teeming with millions of bacteria and they can lead to gum and bone infection. Periodontal disease is characterized by red, swollen, and bleeding gums. The trouble with Gum Disease (gingivitis) and Periodontal Disease is that they do not show any overt symptoms and their foremost people do not seek medical and dental help. It is estimated that four out of five people have periodontal disease and don’t know it!

Not only is it the main reason for tooth loss, but research also suggests that there may be a link between periodontal disease and other diseases such as stroke, bacterial pneumonia, diabetes, cardiovascular disease, and increased risk during pregnancy.

Researchers are determining if inflammation and bacteria associated with periodontal disease affect these systemic diseases and conditions.  Smoking also increases the risk of periodontal disease.

Good oral hygiene, a balanced diet, and regular dental visits can help reduce your risk of developing periodontal disease.

Bleeding gums – Gums should never bleed, even when you brush vigorously or use dental floss.Signs and symptoms of periodontal disease: (any 1 or more may be seen)

  • Loose teeth – Also caused by bone loss or weakened periodontal fibres (fibres that support the tooth to the bone).
  • New spacing between teeth – Caused by bone loss.
  • Persistent bad breath – Caused by bacteria in the mouth.
  • Pus around the teeth and gums – Sign that there is an infection present.
  • Receding gums – Loss of gum around a tooth.
  • Red and puffy gums – Gums should never be red or swollen.
  • Tenderness or Discomfort – Plaque, calculus, and bacteria irritate the gums and teeth.

Periodontal disease is diagnosed by your dentist or dental hygienist during a periodontal examination.  This type of exam should always be part of your regular dental check-up.

Diagnosis:

A periodontal probe (small dental instrument) is gently used to measure the sulcus (pocket or space) between the tooth and the gums.  The depth of healthy sulcus measures three millimetres or less and does not bleed.  The periodontal probe helps indicate if pockets are deeper than three millimetres.  As periodontal disease progresses, the pockets usually get deeper.

Your dentist or hygienist will use pocket depths, amount of bleeding, inflammation, tooth mobility, etc., to make a diagnosis that will fall into a category below:

Gingivitis

Gingivitis is the first stage of periodontal disease.  Plaque and its toxin by-products irritate the gums, making them tender, inflamed, and likely to bleed.

Periodontitis

Plaque hardens into calculus (tartar).  As calculus and plaque continue to build up, the gums begin to recede from the teeth.  Deeper pockets form between the gums and teeth and become filled with bacteria and pus.  The gums become very irritated, inflamed, and bleed easily.

Slight to moderate bone loss may be present.

Advanced Periodontitis

The teeth lose more support as the gums, bone, and periodontal ligament continues to be destroyed.  Unless treated, the affected teeth will become very loose and may be lost.  Generalized moderate to severe bone loss may be present.

Treatment:

Periodontal disease progresses as the sulcus (pocket or space) between the tooth and gums gets filled with bacteria, plaque, and tartar, causing irritation to the surrounding tissues.  When these irritants remain in the pocket space, they can cause damage to the gums and eventually, the bone that supports the teeth!

This could lead to tooth loss and eventual tooth replacement with titanium dental implants. Periodontal treatment methods depend upon the type and severity of the disease.  Your dentist and dental hygienist will evaluate for periodontal disease and recommend the appropriate treatment such as braces, dental implants or crowns.

If the disease is caught in the early stages of gingivitis, and no damage has been done, one to two regular cleanings will be recommended.  You will also be given instructions on improving your daily oral hygiene habits and having regular dental cleanings.

If the pockets do not heal after scaling and root planning, periodontal surgery may be needed to reduce pocket depths, making teeth easier to clean.  Your dentist may also recommend that you see a Periodontist (specialist of the gums and supporting bone). If the disease has progressed to more advanced stages, a special periodontal cleaning called scaling and root planning (deep cleaning) will be recommended.

It is usually done one quadrant of the mouth at a time while the area is numb.  In this procedure, tartar, plaque, and toxins are removed from above and below the gum line (scaling) and rough spots on root surfaces are made smooth (planning).  This procedure helps gum tissue to heal and pockets to shrink.  Medications, special medicated mouth rinses, and an electric tooth brush may be recommended to help control infection and healing.

Maintenance

It only takes 24 hours for plaque that is not removed from your teeth to turn into tartar!  Daily home cleaning helps control plaque and tartar formation, but those hard to reach areas will always need special attention. Los Angeles dentists like Dr. Kamran Sahabi understand the importance of regular maintenance in order to keep their patients’ teeth as healthy as possible.

Once your periodontal treatment has been completed, your dentist and dental hygienist will recommend that you have regular maintenance cleanings (periodontal cleanings), at their general or cosmetic dental office usually four times a year.

At these cleaning appointments, the pocket depths will be carefully checked to ensure that they are healthy.  Plaque and calculus that is difficult for you to remove on a daily basis will be removed from above and below the gum line.

In addition to your periodontal cleaning and evaluation, your appointment will usually include:

  • Examination of diagnostic x-rays (radiographs): Essential for detection of decay, tumors, cysts, and bone loss. X-rays also help determine tooth and root positions and will show if you are a candidate for Lumeneers in Los Angeles or other corrective measures to straighten your teeth.
  • Examination of existing restorations: Check current fillings, crowns, etc.
  • Examination of tooth decay: Check all tooth surfaces for decay.
  • Oral cancer screening: Check the face, neck, lips, tongue, throat, cheek tissues, and gums for any signs of oral cancer.
  • Oral hygiene recommendations: Review and recommend oral hygiene aids as needed. (Electric toothbrushes, special periodontal brushes, fluorides, rinses, etc.)
  • Teeth polishing: Remove stain and plaque that is not otherwise removed during tooth brushing and scaling.
  • Good oral hygiene practices and periodontal cleanings are essential in maintaining dental health and keeping periodontal disease under control!

We all realize that having a healthy, bright, beautiful smile enhances our appearance and allows us to smile with confidence.  At EviDent, we custom design treatment plans depending on individual patient needs to deliver quick, painless and surprisingly affordable smile-design and cosmetic solutions.

Cosmetic dental procedures can:

  • Change the size, shape, and alignment of certain teeth.
  • Fill in unattractive spaces between teeth.
  • Improve or correct bites.
  • Lighten or brighten the color of teeth.
  • Repair decayed, broken, cracked, or chipped teeth.
  • Replace missing teeth.
  • Replace old, unattractive dental treatments.

Porcelain Veneers:

Veneers can completely reshape your teeth and smile.  They can often be alternatives to crowns and the ideal solution in treating many dental conditions. Veneers are very thin pieces of durable, tooth shaped porcelain that are custom made (for shape and color) by a professional dental laboratory.  They are bonded onto the front of teeth to create a beautiful and attractive smile.

As with most dental restorations, veneers are not permanent and will someday have to be replaced.  They are very durable and will last many years, giving you a beautiful long lasting smile.

Reasons for porcelain veneers:

  • How are Veneers made? Cosmetically, to create a uniform, white, beautiful smile
  • Crooked teeth
  • Misshapen teeth
  • Severely discoloured or stained teeth
  • Teeth that are too small or large
  • Unwanted or uneven spaces
  • Worn or chipped teeth

Getting veneers usually requires two visits to complete the process. The teeth are prepared by lightly buffing and shaping the surface to allow for the thickness of the veneer.  A mold or impression of the teeth is taken and a shade (colour) will then be chosen by you and the dentist.

On the second visit, the teeth will be cleansed with special liquids to achieve a durable bond.  Bonding cement is then placed between the tooth and veneer and a special light is used to harden and set the bond.

Tooth Whitening:

Smile Spa – our Cosmetic Dental Wing specializes in Teeth Whitening in Hyderabad. Our Laser Bleaching process gives lasting results in just one hour!!! Tooth whitening (or bleaching) is a simple, non-invasive dental treatment used to change the colour of natural tooth enamel and is an ideal way to enhance the beauty of your smile.

A touch-up maybe needed every several years, and more often if you smoke, drink coffee, tea, or wine.

The other type of whitening involves the use of a bleaching tray which is custom-made and is used in conjunction with a tooth whitening gel. This type of bleaching system is for home use.

Preventive of Dental Problems is through a cooperative effort by the patient, dentist, and dental staff to preserve the natural dentition and supporting structures.

Prevention of dental disease starts at home with good oral care and a balanced diet.  It is continued in the dental office by the efforts of your dentist and dental hygienist to promote, restore, and maintain your oral health.

Prevention includes –

  • Regular dental exams.
  • Cleanings.
  • Timely x-rays.
  • Special Preventive Procedures – Sealants and Fluoride.

Prevention helps avoid serious and costly dental problems and is the key to having a healthy, confident, beautiful smile.

First Visit:

A comprehensive dental exam will be performed by your dentist at your initial dental visit. At regular check-up exams, your dentist and hygienist will include the following:

  • Examination of diagnostic x-rays (Radiographs): Essential for detection of decay, tumours, cysts, and bone loss.  X-rays also help determine tooth and root positions.
  • Mouth cancer screening: Check the face, neck, lips, tongue, throat, tissues, and gums for any signs of oral cancer.
  • Gum disease evaluation: Check the gums and bone around the teeth for any signs of periodontal disease.
  • Tooth decay: All tooth surfaces will be checked for decay with special dental instruments.
  • Old Fillings: Check current fillings, crowns, etc.

Professional Dental Cleaning:

Removal of calculus (tartar): Calculus is hardened plaque that has been left on the tooth for some time and is now firmly attached to the tooth surface.  Calculus forms above and below the gum line, and can only be removed with special dental instruments. Professional dental cleanings (dental scaling and prophylaxis) are very important in preventing Gum Disease. It is recommended once every six months. Your cleaning appointment will include a dental exam and the following:

  • Removal of plaque: Plaque is a sticky, almost invisible film that forms on the teeth.  It is a growing colony of living bacteria, food debris, and saliva.  The bacteria produce toxins (poisons) that inflame the gums.  This inflammation is the start of periodontal disease!
  • Teeth polishing: Remove stain and plaque that is not otherwise removed during tooth brushing and scaling.

Dental X-Rays:

Dental Radiographs (x-rays) are essential, preventative, diagnostic tools that provide valuable information not visible during a regular dental exam.  Dentists and dental hygienists use this information to safely and accurately detect hidden dental abnormalities and complete an accurate treatment plan.  Without x-rays, problem areas may go undetected.

Dental x-rays may reveal:

  • Abscesses or cysts
  • Bone loss
  • Cancerous and non-cancerous tumours
  • Decay between the teeth
  • Developmental abnormalities
  • Poor tooth and root positions
  • Problems inside a tooth or below the gum line

Detecting and treating dental problems at an early stage can save you time, money, unnecessary discomfort, and your teeth!

Are dental x-rays safe?

The amount of radiation exposure from a full mouth series of x-rays is equal to the amount a person receives in a single day from natural sources such as radiation from the Sun, radiation emitted by using mobile devices etc.

Dental x-rays produce a low level of radiation and are considered safe.  Dentists take necessary precautions to limit the patient’s exposure to radiation when taking dental x-rays.

How often should dental x-rays be taken?

The need for dental x-rays depends on each patient’s individual dental health needs.

  • full mouth series of dental x-rays (which is usually good for 3-5 years) is recommended for new patients.
  • Bite-wing x-rays (x-rays of top and bottom teeth biting together) are taken at recall (check-up) visits and are recommended once or twice a year to detect new dental problems.

Home Care:

Your personal home care plays an important role in achieving that goal.  It starts at home by eating balanced meals, reducing the number of snacks you eat and correctly using the various dental aids that help control the plaque and bacteria that cause dental disease.

Brush your teeth at least twice a day (especially before going to bed at night) with an ADA approved soft bristle brush and toothpaste.

  1. Place the brush at a 45-degree angle to the gums and gently brush using a small, circular motion, ensuring that you always feel the bristles on the gums.
  2. Brush the outer, inner, and biting surfaces of each tooth.
  3. Use the tip of the brush to clean the inside of the front teeth.
  4. Brush your tongue to remove bacteria and freshen your breath.

Electric toothbrushes are also recommended.  They are easy to use and can remove plaque efficiently.  Simply place the bristles of the electric brush on your gums and teeth and allow the brush to do its job, several teeth at a time.

Flossing– Daily flossing is the best way to clean between the teeth and under the gumline.  Flossing not only helps clean these spaces, it disrupts plaque colonies from building up, preventing damage to the gums, teeth, and bone.

  1. Floss holders are recommended if you have difficulty using conventional floss. Take 12-16 inches (30-40cm) of dental floss and wrap it around your middle fingers, leaving about 2 inches (5cm) of floss between the hands.
  2. Using your thumbs and forefingers to guide the floss, gently insert the floss between teeth using a sawing motion.
  3. Curve the floss into a “C” shape around each tooth and under the gumline. Gently move the floss up and down, cleaning the side of each tooth.

Rinsing – It is important to rinse your mouth with water after brushing, and also after meals if you are unable to brush.  If you are using an over-the-counter product for rinsing, it’s a good idea to consult with your dentist or dental hygienist on its appropriateness for you.

Use other dental aids as recommended by your dentist or dental hygienist: Interdental brushes, rubber tip stimulators, tongue cleaners, irrigation devices, fluoride, medicated rinses, etc., can all play a role in good dental home care.
